About the Journal

Sriwijaya Journal of International Law (SJIL) is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing critical and theoretically informed scholarship on international law, with a particular focus on legal issues, experiences, and perspectives emerging from the Global South. The journal examines how international law is developed, interpreted, and applied across diverse political, economic, social, and comparative contexts, while critically engaging with questions of power, inequality, sovereignty, colonial legacies, development, and the changing structure of the international legal order.

SJIL welcomes original research across the fields of public international law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international environmental law, international law of the sea, international organizations law, international dispute settlement, and emerging areas of international legal scholarship. The journal particularly encourages comparative, critical, postcolonial, decolonial, socio-legal, historical, and empirical approaches that bring underrepresented perspectives into international legal debates and contribute to rethinking the development and operation of international law in the Global South and beyond.
