Copyright & Licensing

Authors retain copyright in their published works in accordance with the licensing terms applicable to the article. By publishing with SJIL, authors grant the Journal the necessary rights to publish, distribute, preserve, and make the article publicly accessible through its website and other scholarly dissemination and archiving platforms.

Unless otherwise stated for a particular article, published articles are distributed under a Creative Commons license. The applicable license is identified clearly on the published article and its accompanying metadata.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not infringe the copyright, intellectual property rights, or other rights of third parties. Where copyrighted material belonging to others is incorporated into a manuscript, authors must obtain the necessary permission where required and provide appropriate attribution.

The licensing terms do not prevent authors from sharing, depositing, or otherwise making their published work available through institutional repositories, personal academic profiles, or other lawful scholarly channels, subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license and any third-party rights.

Copyright and licensing arrangements do not affect the Journal's editorial independence or the rights of readers to access and use published articles in accordance with the applicable license.
