Archiving Policy

Sriwijaya Crimen and Legal Studies (SCLS) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes digital preservation as an essential component of responsible scholarly publishing and aims to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record for future generations of researchers, academics, legal practitioners, and readers.

1. Digital Preservation

SCLS seeks to preserve its published articles, issues, metadata, and associated publication records through appropriate digital archiving and preservation mechanisms. The journal aims to maintain the authenticity, integrity, and accessibility of its digital content and to minimize the risk of permanent loss resulting from technical failures, website disruptions, or changes in publishing infrastructure.

Digital preservation arrangements may include regular backups, secure storage of publication files, preservation of article metadata, and migration of digital content when necessary to maintain accessibility.

2. Online Journal System (OJS) and Content Backup

SCLS uses its journal management and publishing platform to manage and disseminate scholarly publications. The journal seeks to maintain appropriate backup procedures for published articles, editorial records, metadata, and other essential publication files.

Backup frequency, storage arrangements, access controls, and recovery procedures are managed in accordance with the technical capabilities and institutional arrangements supporting the journal.

Where technically and institutionally feasible, backup copies should be maintained separately from the primary publishing environment to reduce the risk of data loss.

3. Long-Term Archiving and Preservation Services

SCLS aims to participate in recognized digital preservation services or institutional repositories that support the long-term preservation and continued accessibility of scholarly publications.

Depending on availability and institutional support, preservation mechanisms may include the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or other appropriate digital preservation services.

The journal will identify and maintain information about the preservation services in which it actively participates. References to specific preservation services will be published only after participation has been established and verified.

4. Institutional Archiving

Where permitted by applicable institutional policies and publication agreements, SCLS may preserve copies of its published content through the institutional repository of Universitas Sriwijaya or other appropriate academic repositories.

Institutional archiving is intended to provide an additional preservation mechanism and support continued access to the journal's scholarly output.

Any institutional archiving arrangement will be implemented in accordance with the journal's copyright, licensing, and repository policies.

5. Accessibility in the Event of Website Disruption

SCLS seeks to ensure that its published content remains accessible in the event of temporary website disruption, technical failure, or changes to its publishing platform.

Where the journal's primary website becomes unavailable, preserved copies may be made accessible through an established preservation service, institutional repository, or another authorized platform, subject to applicable technical and legal requirements.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to restore access to its publications and maintain the continuity of the scholarly record.

6. Integrity of Archived Content

Archived publications must remain identifiable and traceable to their original publication records. Article titles, author information, publication dates, DOI information, and other essential metadata should be preserved wherever available.

If a published article is corrected or retracted, the corresponding notice and links to the affected article should be maintained in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy.

Archived content will not be silently altered in a manner that compromises the integrity or traceability of the scholarly record. Any substantive changes will be documented through appropriate editorial notices.

7. Access to Archived Content

SCLS aims to maintain continued access to its published articles and issues, subject to the journal's applicable access, licensing, copyright, and preservation arrangements.

Where the journal provides open access to its publications, the relevant access conditions and licensing terms will continue to apply to archived copies, subject to the terms of the applicable preservation service or repository.

Readers and researchers may contact the editorial office if they experience difficulties accessing archived content or require information about the journal's preservation arrangements.

8. Policy Review

SCLS will periodically review its archiving arrangements to reflect developments in digital preservation standards, publishing technology, institutional requirements, and scholarly communication practices.

Through appropriate digital preservation and archiving measures, SCLS seeks to protect the continuity, accessibility, and integrity of its scholarly publications and to support the long-term advancement of legal scholarship.
