Peer Review Process

Lex LATA will only publish manuscripts that strictly adhere to the journal’s established guidelines and submission requirements. Manuscripts are reviewed by members of the editorial board (based on their respective areas of expertise) and examined by the Managing Editor to ensure they meet Lex LATA’s publication criteria. Subsequently, each manuscript is sent to two peer reviewers, selected based on their experience in reviewing scholarly work or their specific fields of expertise. Lex LATA provides a review form to ensure that both reviewers evaluate the same key aspects. The editorial board then makes a final decision based on the reviewers' comments and suggestions. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, clarity of presentation, and its contribution to the relevant field of study. Lex LATA employs four decision categories:

  • Accepted (as is)
  • Accepted with minor revisions – the author must complete the revisions within a specified timeframe.
  • Accepted with major revisions – the author must complete the revisions within a specified timeframe.
  • Rejected – typically because the manuscript falls outside the journal’s scope and objectives, contains significant technical issues, or lacks clarity in its presentation.

To check for plagiarism, the Lex LATA Editorial Board conducts scans using iThenticate or Turnitin software, with a maximum allowable threshold of 30%. If any indication of plagiarism is detected, the editorial board will immediately reject the manuscript.

Prior to publication, authors must provide written confirmation regarding the transfer of copyright for the manuscript to be included in the journal. Authors are required to sign a Transfer of Copyright form, which states the following: The undersigned hereby transfers all rights to the manuscript, including but not limited to all copyrights, to Lex LATA. The undersigned declares and warrants that the manuscript is an original work and that they are the authors of said manuscript, with the exception of any material for which the original source has been clearly cited and, where necessary, permission from the copyright holder has been obtained. The undersigned declares that they possess the authority and power to execute and carry out this transfer of rights. This agreement must be signed by at least one of the authors, who must have obtained the consent of the other author(s) (if any).
